Invasive Species Research Lead

The Invasive Species Research Lead is an essential volunteer role supporting the health and resilience of Fairy Lake. Working alongside the Environment Director, you’ll take a hands-on approach to addressing invasive species threatening our lake’s ecosystem. No prior expertise is needed — just enthusiasm and a commitment to protecting our lake!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Raise Awareness: Collaborate with the Environment Director to install educational signs at entry points around the lake, informing visitors and residents about invasive species and preventative measures.

  • Collaborate with Neighboring Lakes: Connect with representatives from neighbouring lakes to exchange ideas, strategies, and solutions for invasive species management, building a network of shared knowledge and support.

  • Coordinate Research Efforts: Assist in gathering information about current and potential invasive species, contributing to reports or updates for the FLA and its members.

  • Support Community Engagement: Help organize initiatives that involve the community, such as informational sessions, clean-ups, or surveys, to promote awareness and collective action.

Time Commitment:

This role typically requires a few hours per month, with flexibility based on the scope of projects and the volunteer’s availability.
