Storm Water Management
It appears that mitigating the detrimental effects of STORMWATER has become a concern of many individuals, community groups and municipalities. On a grand scale, the District of Muskoka has addressed these concerns by developing a strategy to protect Muskoka’s environment from the harmful impacts of storm water run-off. Muskoka’s Storm Water Management Strategy can be viewed at www.muskoka.on.ca or www.muskokawaterweb.ca
On a much smaller scale, it is recommended that we each develop a plan for our own property which would be aimed at mitigating the damage done to the lake in terms of diminished water quality from run-off. For some helpful homeowner suggestions, log on to www.muskokawatershed.org in order to download the Best Practices brochure ‘Make Your Home the Solution to Stormwater Pollution’. Other Best Practices brochures may be accessed as well.
